Days Since the Great Escape

Since the gates were accidentally left open on Sunday Maggie has been wanting to go outside much more often. As soon as she goes out she runs to the secondary gate and pushes it with her nose and today jumped up and pushed it - hoping to open it and then open the primary gate. What a little smarty pants. The look of disappointment on her face each time she realizes we haven't made any mistakes is priceless. I tried to get a picture of her today but she turned her back to me - lol. Have a GREAT night all!!

Maggie and Janet on the RUN!!

The weekend was hectic - people were over to clean and move furniture - the dogs were all excited and barking their heads off!! Did I ever HAVE a headache - lol. On Sunday the back yard was mowed quickly because we were hoping it would rain - (didn't happen - bummer) - the love of my life got over heated and came in to shower and go to bed. I let the girls outside about 15 minutes later I went to the yard - NO DOGS - all the gates to the front yard were left open. I was hysterical - I called Maggie over and over and hobbled into the front yard - I was afraid to take the time to wake my love up or get my cane - I was calling and calling their names. In that moment I was so afraid I would find Maggie in the street - hit by a car or worse yet that both of them had just "poof" vanished! When I got to the front I saw the garage door was also left open and I prayed they were in there - they weren't of course. Then I spotted them heading out of the cul de sac going down the street - I frantically called Maggie - who comes when called thank goodness (no cars were coming) - Janet on the other hand just stood there - I had to go and retrieve her. They were looking at me like I was totally insane. I was crying tears of relief and happiness. I don't know if I could have handled it if I had lost Maggie - she really is my only real family. Although I have AWESOME, GREAT friends who are family - Maggie is my baby. (Yes, I know she's a dog!). In those frantic moments I made a HUGE decision - I am going to get another cockapoopoo puppy from Missouri. The puppies won't be ready for about 8-10 weeks and I might regret my decision but at this point I think I am ready for another daughter. By the way it was just a horrible mistake so of course I wasn't really mad about what happened more relieved it all turned out okay.

Perhaps the Kitty is a Faker

Leilani's illness had possibly manifested again the last time I posted but since then she has just slept and wanted to be petted - WOW - who wouldn't like that. No more vomiting which is good. Maggie has been very happy with the subdued kitty that is until earlier today. We were all sitting in the living room the kids were snoring away and I was reading. Leilani got up stretched like a big cat OK she weighs 14 lbs I should say a bigger cat - yawned then jumped down stretched again.....wait for it - lol - then she jumped on the love seat and smacked Maggie in the hind end, running off leaving a yelping, sleepy puppy wondering WTH!! It was funny for everyone but Maggie - I washed it off as it was bleeding and went to give Leilani and stern talking to - finding her asleep in her favorite chair.

Poor Little Kitty! :(

Plans for Leilani to get declawed have been put on hold much to Maggie's chagrin! Leilani is either a really good actress or she is getting sick again. It started last Wednesday - she vomited three times and moped around most of the afternoon but by evening was back to hunting doggies. She was fine until Friday when she slept most of the day and looked a bit pale but had no vomiting. On the weekend she was pale, slept a lot and today started to vomit again. There are no masses we can feel in her intestines like last time and the general consensus by the Vet is to watch her. If her gums get pale she will need pay the Vet a visit and I will need to pay the Vet. (lol) She is very clingy (odd for a cat) this behavior seems to happen when either she or I are feeling ill. I have to be home tomorrow until my Enbrel arrives so will be able to watch her closely. Poor little kitty.

Sorry For Not Posting Lately

Hi All - Sorry I haven't posted lately - not for a lack of funny animal situations - just haven't felt up to it. Janet and Jackson have been back a few days and all has been calm with those two. The action has been with Leilani and Maggie. Poor little Maggie continues to be hunted by lioness Leilani - who has now started chasing her prey (Maggie) throughout the house - using the leather sofa and loveseat to jump on and off on. There are claw marks on the furniture as well as on the dog - even a few on the laminate floor. It will be 187.00 for her to be declawed and that appointment will be made for the end of the month. I really hate to do it but no one that knows her wants her and I'm afraid if someone took her that doesn't really know her - she would end up abused or dumped - plus with all her bad habits I DO LOVE HER. Maggie loves her eyes and nose just as much though - lol.
