I am writing this as a series of posts about my experiences integrating furry 4 legged kids into a blended family - similar to those of humans. It is reality based and I hope it will bring a smile or perhaps a laugh from my readers. It's a great place for me to share the joys as well as the challenges I have encountered.

Poor, Poor Jackson
Last night the Weatherman reported that a cold front would be coming in and we would have severe weather to include hail. So we let all the dogs out earlier than usual - Jackson likes to stay out as long as possible but does not like bad weather - even though his enclosure is on the screened in porch. We noticed a huge mother possum with several babies in the yard and hurriedly ushered Jackson in before he saw them. (He has killed several but I was afraid this one would hurt him since she babies and was SO large). To entice him inside quickly we gave him a 1/4 or less of a chicken strip dog snack - we had stopped them when he got pancreatitis. This morning when we woke up he had vomited and had diarrhea all over the kitchen floor - he felt very bad about it and acted like he was just worn out from the ordeal. It was all cleaned up and I let him sleep a bit more before I put him outside - he was happy to go out but not too happy about the smaller than normal portion of food. I will give him some more later in the day. Poor Jackson - he is such a good boy to have felt so bad.
