I am writing this as a series of posts about my experiences integrating furry 4 legged kids into a blended family - similar to those of humans. It is reality based and I hope it will bring a smile or perhaps a laugh from my readers. It's a great place for me to share the joys as well as the challenges I have encountered.

The Diet Continues
After the first week on the diet Janet adjusted to less food. There was however a new problem - major ANXIETY!! Appearing first in little things like chewing up facial tissue, the Vet was contacted assuring us it was just an adjustment to the change in diet. Then one day I went shopping with a friend MISTAKE - BIG MISTAKE on my return I found in the center of the living room floor a torn up box with a small piece of nylon belt hanging out! Yep a small piece but thank goodness it had the buckle attached. Needless to say a trip to the Pet ER was next - there was nothing they could do and suggested a doggie Gastroenterologist (stomach doctor). There is only 1 locally and the next emergent appointment was 2 days away - they did agree to board her just in case something happened. When we went to the appointment the Vet suggested an Endoscopy (where they put a lighted tube done the throat into the stomach) to try and pull the belt out and if that failed abdominal surgery would be the only option. The next day 4 inches of belt was removed from her intestine along with ta VERY long incision and a $3800.00 bill. The regular Vet put her on medication for anxiety - go figure!
