Frolic in a Field of.....??

Janet was not any worse for wear after the litter incident. A month or so later we took she and Maggie to a beautiful new dog park. There is a fenced field next to it dogs are allowed to run in. So off they went - Maggie in the lead as usual and Janet in hot pursuit. They sniffed around for a bit then ran off to explore - Maggie is trained to come when called and is very good off lead and Janet is usually right with her and follows her back to us. About 30 minutes into it I called for Maggie - nothing, I called again - nothing - we started walking out into the field and here came Janet - no Maggie - I started to get hysterical - we kept calling her and then spotted her lying by a tree. I thought the worst - a snake bite - we ran over and she was awake/alert but wouldn't stand. On closer examination she had burr stickers in the hair between her pads - poor baby. We could not pull them out because it hurt so much - off to the groomers to have them cut out. The next time we went to the dog park she wouldn't get out of the car - lol!!
