Why Do We Have Ants??

Many of you know my Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease for many years before she died. My father and I purchased the house I live in now so we could all move in together for support and to spend some time with one another. It was a HUGE undertaking as an only child I was blessed to have that time with them before they passed away. I had given my Dad an Apricot miniature poodle 6 years before on Father's day. She was used to being the queen bee and there were many conflicts between she and Maggie. The one thing they really agreed on though was dog treats - my Mom would go through a box of Milk Bone treats a day! Of course she wouldn't remember - it got so bad I had to stop buying them. Which caused BIG, GIANT arguments! I finally started buying the big ones - breaking them in pieces and gave her the Ziploc bag that way she was in control of the treats. Maggie was very polite - she would take the treat - even when she didn't really want it and take it to her bed - GiGi would go and steal them - this went over like a lead balloon. (or in GiGi's case a lead poodle) Then I started noticing ants in the other living area by the front window - on further inspection there was a small pile of treats hidden behind the curtains - Maggie's new hiding place - what a dog!! I helped Maggie find a safe place behind the pillow of the sofa and no more ants! After my Mom passed away GiGi went from a 30 lb (seriously) poodle to an 18 lb one but she died about 1 year after both her parents had passed.
